When the Club began in April 2002, none
of the students had any experience in astronomy. The learning curve
of using the telescopes at home has been quite a challenge. Capturing
images of astronomical objects has taken the challenge to a whole
different level.
The use of digital still and
webcams is a fast developing aspect of amateur astronomy which taxes the ability
of many experienced observers. Most children, already struggling with
complicated observing equipment, only need to get a few splodgy disappointments
to be tempted to give up on astrophotography. Others are made of
sterner stuff. The web pages that are starting to appear here are
from those pioneering students who have battled through the challenges.
Other are on the way.
