Hi I'm Stu!

I have been interested in astronomy for a while now, and have attended the club since September 2004. I am currently studying at Dereham 6th Form, taking psychology, biology, computing and history. In the future I hope to attend university to study a History degree, and then par-take in a career as an officer in the Royal Marines.

I have keen interest in all sports - I swim competitively for the county, as well as running, tennis, basketball and rugby. I have also played the guitar for about a year!

I was a part of the Constellation group on the North and South project, which took us around South Africa visiting different schools and teaching young people about Astronomy. For me this was the most rewarding part of the trip; the children listened patiently to whatever we had to say, always asking questions, and conducted every task with such enthusiasm. I hope what we have taught them will continue to be used within the schools, so that more kids can learn about the stars in their sky. Also as part of the project we visited the Southern African Large Telescope, which was busy being prepared for its main opening in November. We got to see inside the actual telescope, to gain an understanding of how it produces its final pictures. Whilst up at the telescope we were extremely lucky to see the most beautiful night sky I have ever seen, with a clear milky way and plenty of shooting stars!
