May 2006 - We met the other night and we had a look at Jupiter. We could see the bands, and about 5 moons. We also identified the constellation in our East skies at the moment (picture above), i.e. Scorpius, Libra, Virgo, Centaurus, Lupus, Crux, etc. It is always fun.

March 2006 - Nighttime observations observing the Orion Nebula and capturing great pictures .  

October 2005 - The group have been using the solar telescopes to make observations of our nearest star.

August 2005 - Vusisizwe educator,  Reggie Cesar and his grade 12 learners who became North and South Science Ambassadors to schools in Sutherland.

Above, Mr Cesar's first go with the camera and the Sunspotter reveals sunspots and filament detail.   His image of the Moon through the Starblast reflector telescope shows the Apennine mountains around the Imbrium basin (lower left) and the crater Eratosthenes at the bottom with its central peak catching the sunlight.   Bellow, a shot of the Centaurus and Crux constellations taken by Mr Cesar  with the North and South digital camera which can also be borrowed by other schools.
