Ryan Milligan

Hi, my name’s Ryan Milligan.  I’m working at the Goddard Space Flight Centre in Greenbelt, Maryland on the SOHO satellite as part of my PhD research.  My earliest memory of a space event was when I saw Halley’s Comet at age 11 and I guess I’ve had an interest in space ever since.  I remember spending time looking up at the stars.  My family is from Ireland and we lived in the countryside so the view was usually good.

After finishing school I lived in Dublin and did my A levels whilst I also trained as a sound engineer for recording studio’s.  After that I took a 4 year break before doing my degree and as my dad had a truck firm I got my truck drivers license and drove trucks for a while, although my parents were always keen for me to be a lawyer.  In my spare time I play the drums and like to see live bands.  Bands I’ve seen recently include D12, Jurassic 5, Metallica, Kid Rock & Monster Magnet.
