Keith Noll

I’m American astronomer and I work with the Hubble
Space Telescope at the Space Telescope Science Institute, Baltimore. I knew I
was going to be an astronomer from a very young age. I remember seeing a meteor whilst holding
onto my mothers skirt when I was about 4.
When I was 6 she gave me a book about astronomy to keep me busy while I
waited for her to finish a class. She
gave my brother a book on dinosaurs. He
is now a geologist. Just goes to show
the power of books! I was also lucky
enough to have a great physics teacher.
Carl Sagan’s Cosmos series on TV also had a great effect on me.
What keeps me going in astronomy is when I makes a discovery.
I became involved with the Hubble Heritage Project when I realized how
people respond to Hubble's pictures.
When these images come out, they speak to everybody.
