When
Galileo turned his new telescope towards the Sun in the Summer of 1612 and began
to carefully record his observations, he started the study of Solar science that
is now carried out by hundreds of professionals worldwide.
You are now able to join them in their quest to understand the physics of our
nearest star by using ground-based observatories on mountain peaks, satellites
in orbit around the Earth and the Sun and your own hands-on observations.
This
section of 'Solar Science' aims to help your explorations by explaining key ideas
about science. You will soon see why Galileo and thousands of
other scientists have been fascinated by the Sun - this is amazing stuff!
